Jalandhar(Parteek Singh); Jalandhar police has succeeded in cracking down Rs 1.18 Cr HDFC bank cash van robbery case. Police has identified all the seven accused involved in the robbery. The robbers are identified as Sutinderpal Singh alias Happy of village Nadal, Kapurthala, Sukhwinder Singh alais Nimma of village Lakhan Khole, Kapurthala, Jaskaran Singh alais Bau of Harchowal, Gurdaspur, Gurpreet Singh Gopi of Bholath, Kapurthala, Sukhdev Singh alias Sonu, Kapurthala, Hardip Singh of Lakhan Kalan, Kapurthala and Ranjit Singh of Lakhan Khole, Kapurthala. The two accused Ranjit Singh and Jaskaran Singh has been arrested by police and police is searching for others. Ex-employee of cash van Sutinderpal Singh Happy is the mastermind behind the robbery. He use to work with cash van a year ago and from last week he planned the robbery and formed a gang. The robbery took place around 3 pm near village Manakrai, Adampur when van was heading towards Bhogpur to refill ATMs of HDFC bank.
Adressing the media DIG Jaskaran Singh said a HDFC bank’s cash van Mahindra Maxima PB-65-AD-3724 driven by Charanjit Singh along with 3 others left from the main branch to put Rs 2,16,50,000 in various ATMs of HDFC bank. While putting money in 6 ATMs when van was heading towards Bhogpur van was stopped by one indigo car and 3 motorcycle-borne robbers near village Manakrai and looted Rs 1,18,50,000 at gunpoint and left the spot. After the information of robbery police was on alert, when police signaled a white Indigo to stop he opened fire at police party upon which police also retaliated the fire and chased the car for 5-6 kilometers and overpowered Ranjit Singh after he was injured in cross fire. Police rushed him to Sacred Heart Hospital, Jalandhar where he is stable now, 3 bullets were removed from his body, one Indigo car and country made pistol was recovered from his possession. During preliminary investigation admitted his involvement in the robbery and further revealed the identities of 6 co-accused involved in robbery with him, DIG said. Police has arrested co-accuse Jaskaran Singh from his village. There is no recovery of amount yet, but police seems confident to nab all the accused soon. All the accused are from nearby villages. Sukhwinder Singh is brother-in-law of Jaskaran Singh.
