Dharamshala: Prime minister Narendra Modi on Saturday slammed Congress over its call to observe “black day” on November 8, the first anniversary of demonetisation. “Congress is observing ‘black money day’ on November 8. They have planned to burn my effigies,” said Modi, addressing a rally at Rait in the Shahpur assembly segment of Kangra district. Calling himself a disciple of Sardar Patel, Modi said nothing would deter him from continuing his fight against corruption. “Only the dishonest are crying hoarse,” he added.
Likening Congress to termites, Modi asked people to wipe out the party and get rid of it forever. Firing another salvo at Congress, the prime minister said the party had already conceded defeated in Himachal and left the battlefield. “No big Congress leader is coming to Himachal. At this stage, Congress has left Virbhadra to his fate,” Modi said, mocking the 83-year-old chief minister. He said it looked like Congress was taking some sort of revenge on the veteran leader. The prime minister said that the response of the people in the state reflected which way the wind was blowing. “Congress will not be visible even through the magnifying glass for many years,” said Modi. Urging people to vote BJP to power with a three-fourth majority, the prime minister said “Modi-Dhumal jodi” will take Himachal to new heights.
