New Delhi, 2 October: The Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) General Secretary Manjinder Singh Sirsa today congratulated Jagmeet Singh to becoming first ever Sikh and Punjabi to head a major political party in Canada.
It is worth mentioning here that Jagmeet Singh has won election to lead Canada’s major political party New Democratic Party (NDP) with securing more than 50 percent votes.
In a congratulatory message sent to Jagmeet Singh, Sirsa said that first Sikh Guru Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji had blessed Sikhs to settle down in various parts of the world. He said that as per the saying of the Guru Sahib, Sikhs are now a major force to reckon with throughout the world. He said that at a time when whole world has acknowledged contribution of the sikh community in major world economies and their role in helping distressed people and other social field, his election to lead a major Canada party has contributed to further boost up morale of the Sikhs.
Sirsa said that his election has also provided sikh community a chance to see first ever baptized sikh becoming Prime Minister of any country in the world and this country being Canada a major contributor towards world economy has a great significance. Wishing good luck to Jagmeet Singh, the DSGMC General Secretary also appealed the Sikhs settled in Canada to appreciate the achievement of Jagmeet Singh. He also congratulated his mother Sardarni Harmeet Kaur and father Jagtaran Singh for splendid victory of their son Jagmeet Singh.
