Gurdaspur, 29 September(Wishav Warta): Former Shiromani Akali Dal minister Sucha Singh Langah was booked by Gurdaspur police on the allegations of rape. The case has been registered against him on the complaint of a woman. Langah has been booked under Sections 376, 384, 420 and 506 of the Indian Penal Code, a case has been registered against Langah at the city police station, Gurdaspur for further investigation. The alleged rape case against Langah comes at a politically crucial time for his party ahead of the Gurdaspur parliamentary by-poll scheduled for October 11.
A woman employee of Punjab Government complained to the Police on September 28 that Sucha Singh Langah had been black-mailing and raping her since 2009. The victim said that she came into his contact after the death of her husband who was in Punjab Police. Langah had promised her a government job and forcibly had sex with her. He raped her before arranging government job and then continued to have physical relations on the pretext that he had given her government job. The woman also alleged that Langah had sold her property fraudulently.
