Chandigarh: Sukhpal Singh Khaira President of Punjabi Ekta Party (PEP) today took a leap forward and appointed adhoc District Presidents of 31 districts (urban and rural) with an aim to assure active involvement of party cadre in the process of strengthening the party base all over the state.
Sukhpal Singh Khaira while releasing the list of District Presidents said that PEP would soon appoint office bearers up to grass root level. He said that an overwhelmed response to new political outfit has encouraged him to surge forward with confidence. He said that all newly appointed district presidents have Volunteered to be part of the PEP and work selflessly for the cause of Punjab. He added that PEP would not impose para-shoot leaders and instead promote democratic values and give a fair chance to youth and women beside others.
Khaira assured people of Punjab that he would work sincerely to make Punjab a better place to live and restore rule of law. He said that he had seen internal practices of traditional parties like Congress, SAD and BJP and was extremely frustrated to see ‘dictatorial’ attitude of leaders sitting at helm of affairs. He called upon the people of the state to share responsibility with him to build a new Punjab and shun the corrupt parties. The thrust of PEP would be Punjabi unity irrespective of caste and creed, Khaira added.
The first meeting of newly appointed District Presidents has been convened at Chandigarh on 15th January, to discuss and plan further structure building and to begin ground level activity.
