Chandigarh: Former chief minister Sardar Prakash Singh Badal today paid glowing tributes to the highly decorated war veteran Brigadier Kuldip Singh Chandpuri who died in a private hospital in Mohali near here on Saturday.
“The country has today lost a brace son and an outstanding patriot and soldier. His absence will be acutely felt, ” said Badal commenting on the war heroes demise.
In his condolence message Badal described Brig Chandpuri as a soldier and general in the highest traditions of patriotic valour handed down to us by the tenth Master Shri Guru Gobind Singh ji Maharaj
Badal recalled his long association with the outstanding war hero and said that he was one of the main forces behind the war heroes memorial built by SAD BJP Government at Amritsar.
It may be recalled that Brig Chandpuri, who was an Army Major during the 1971 India-Pakistan war, had held his post through the night in the famous battle of Longewala in Rajasthan with just 120 men against a full-fledged attack by advancing Pakistani Patton tanks.
