Fatehgarh Sahib: The government hospitals of the state has witnessed a surprise hike in the inflow of the patients to get the OPD services, this all due to the affordable and quality health services being provided to the patients. It was said by Brahm Mohindra, Health and Family Welfare Minister while delivering keynote address after inaugurating the state level function to confer the Kaya Kalp Awards held at Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Engineering College at Fatehgarh Sahib. He gave away prizes to the 18 Rural Primary Health Centres (PHCs) & 2 Urban PHCs for the better implementation of the Punjab Kaya Kalp Programme.
The Minister eulogized the commitment and professionalism of the team of doctors who worked 24X7 to provide the much needed medical care and treatment to the victims of Amritsar Rail Tragedy. Health Minister instructed the Civil Surgeons and Senior Medical Officers to mount boards over the walls of hospitals with the messages based on the advantages of clean and hygienic surrounding and atmosphere. He asked them to evaluate these messages after every 15 days and to note that the implementation of which point has been ensured and if not then to find out the lacuna. Brahm Mohindra congratulated the PHCs who have bagged the prize and called upon other Civil Surgeons and SMOs to work with missionary zeal to make Kaya Kalap Programme a grand success.
On the sideline of the function while speaking to journalists, Health Minister said, “ We have done commendable work under the Mission Tandarust Punjab to curb the incidence of adulteration of food products and we have witnessed a remarkable success in this direction as the adulteration of food products have shown a sharp fall in the recent past.” added the Minister.
The Health Minister said that Punjab Government has taken lead amongst all the state of the country in implementing Universal Health Scheme under which insurance cover of Rs. 5 lakh would be extended to about 45 lakh families of state. Prominent amongst other who were present on this occasion included Mr. Satish Chandra, Additional Chief Secretary, Health & Family Welfare Department, Dr. Naresh Kansra, Director Health Services, Dr. Meena Hardeep Singh, Director Punjab Health System Corporation. Mr. Harinder Singh Bhambri, President of District Congress was also present in the function.
Among the PHCs who bagged the prize included PHC, Batala in Amritsar District, Tallewal in Barnala, Balluana in Bathinda, Panj graiye Kalan in Faridkot, Khai Feme Ke in Ferozpur, Chak Jansher in Fazilka, Baladi Kalan in Fatehgarh Sahib, Dorangla in Gurdaspur, Biljon in Hoshiarpur, Raipur Rasulpur in Jalandhar, Dhilwan in Kapurthala, Ghabaddi in Ludhiana, Boothgarh in Mohali, Ubha in Mansa, Kathgarh in Nawan shehar, Soja in Patiala, Ghiyala in Pathankot, Gobindwal Sahib in Tarn Taran and Urban PHCs of Lal Singh Basti PHC of Bathinda and Model Town PHC of Ludhiana.
