Adampur (Jalandhar): As a part of the firm commitment of the Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh to help the flood ravaged Kerala state in this hour of crisis, the state government today airlifted 1000 quintals of ready to eat food from the Adampur airbase.
The Lok Sabha MP from Jalandhar Chaudhary Santokh Singh, MLA Sushil Kumar Rinku and Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Varinder Kumar Sharma flagged off the trucks carrying the food material from the local Maha Lakhsmi Temple to the Adampur airbase. From Adampur these one lakh boxes of food containing one lakh packets of big biscuits, two lakh packets of small biscuits, one lakh water bottles, one lakh packet of sugar, one lakh packet of tea and two lakh packets of dry milk were airlifted to the flood affected Kerala.
Meanwhile, lauding the Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh for this noble gesture, the Lok Sabha MP, MLA and Deputy Commissioner said that it was the need to help the hapless victims of this tragedy. They said that Punjab government was fully with the aggrieved and calamity stricken people of Kerala and would extend full help to them in this hour of crisis. Expressing deep concern over the havoc and devastation caused by floods which left a trail of unprecedented death and destruction in Kerala behind, they said that the Punjabis were firm believers of the ethos of universal brotherhood, communal harmony, tolerance and peace as propagated by the Sikh Gurus, saints and seers, therefore the state government would make all out efforts by the grace of God to help Kerala.
They said that Punjab led by the Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh was extremely keen to accomplish this robust task at the earliest in providing much needed succor to the victims of this disastrous calamity. Sharing the sense of grievous loss of the people of Kerala due to the recent fury of floods across the state beyond anyone’s imagination, they said that Punjab government was committed to extend a helping hand to the people of Kerala in this hour of crisis and despair. They said that on behalf of the people of Punjab, the Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh has already set the wheels of government machinery in motion to help the flood ravaged state through every possible mean and measure.
