Chandigarh: ‘To make the villages of Punjab clean and green Punjab Govt. has started My Village, My Pride campaign under Swachh Survekshan Grameen 2018. Under this campaign cash prizes up to 2 lakh and awards will be given on the basis of the performances of the villages. Various activities are already going on in the Villages of district S.A.S. Nagar.’ This was disclosed by Gurpreet Kaur Sapra, Deputy Commissioner of S.A.S. Nagar during a meeting with the officials of various departments here at District Administrative Complex.
She said that activities like cleaning of village streets and drains, no stagnation of dirty water around public places, stop open defecation, construction of Soakage pits, stop wastage of water, solid waste segregation at household level, morning checking to sensitize open defecators, proper storage and handling of drinking water and no littering of solid waste and its proper segregation and disposal, were included in this campaign.
Deputy commissioner further disclosed that cash prize of Rs. 2 lakh would be given to the best clean village of the district, Rs. 1 lakh to the best clean rural health facility of the district, Rs. 50 thousand to the best clean rural anganwari, Rs. 1 lakh to the best clean rural senior secondary school of the district, Rs. 50 thousand to the best clean rural primary/middle school, Rs. 25 thousand to best ODF Nigran committee/group of the block and Rs. 1 lakh would be given a cash prize to the best ODF Nigran Committee/ group of the district. Winners would be selected by the independent committee headed by Deputy Commissioner. More information regarding prizes for volunteers and Swachhta champions was also available on www.pbdwss.gov.in. She said that Swachh Punjab Mobile App had been also started regarding this campaign which was available on play store and could be used for registration.
Deputy Commissioner disclosed that the Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation had launched Swachh Survekshan Grameen-2018 programme to develop the ranking of the districts throughout India on the basis of Rural Sanitation Status. This ranking would be based on a comprehensive set of quantitative and qualitative parameters.
