Chandigarh: In its crusade against organised crime, Punjab Police busted a gang of notorious gangsters related to Devinder Bambiha gang and nabbed 11 gang members. The Organised Crime Control Unit (OCCU) of intelligence wing has arrested one Aman Kumar @Amna Jaito and Yadwinder Singh @Yaddu Jaito along with nine others belonging to Devinder shooter gang.
Giving the details Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh, IGP Intelligence (OCCU) told that according to preliminary inputs and investigations carried out so far, both were wanted in a case of brutal killing of one Hardev Singh @ Gogi Jatana at the poultry farm of the latter in Rampura Phul on 17 June 2018. An FIR in this regard had already been registered in the police station Phul under various sections of IPC and Arms Act.
IGP Intelligence (OCCU) further informed that this incident of murder was reportedly committed on the instructions of another notorious gangster Sukhpreet Singh @ Budha of Moga and his accomplice Gurbax Singh Sevawala of Faridkot. After this killing, Sukhpreet (Budha) went ahead to take credit of this murder on his Facebook Id; for his alleged involvement in the shoot-out resulting in the death of gangster Davinder Shooter in September 2016). Another arrested gang-member Veena Buttar @ Varinderpal Singh of Moga had provided weapons to Aman Jaito which were used in the killing of Gogi Jatana involved in at least six cases of similar nature.
He further said the other arrested gang-members include Bittu Mehal Kalan @ Arshdeep Singh of Barnala who is facing about 34 cases of robbery, dacoity, carjacking etc. The remaining members of this gang are Rajat Kumar @ Safi of Faridkot, Karan Mangla of Barnala, Sukha @ Vicky of Faridkot, Palwinder Singh @ Likhri of Moga, Sumit Bajaj @ Landi of Faridkot, Alam Bhattal @Kranti of Barnala and Lakhwinder Singh of Faridkot.
These criminals were involved in several cases of murder, attempt to murder, ransoms, snatching of vehicles cars, smuggling of narcotics, dealing in illegal weapons besides several cases of hurt and armed robberies and theft across the state of Punjab and Haryana.
IG OCCU revealed that total 17 numbers of weapons have been recovered from the possession of these gang members which include 9 pistols, 5 revolvers, one rifle and 2 guns. Some of the weapons are foreign made, he added. In addition to this, two Scorpios and one Hyundai Creta car have also been recovered from their possession. As per preliminary investigations, this Creta car was snatched from Kurukshetra and used in the incident of attack on Parmish Verma during April 2018 by Dilpreet @ Babba and Sukhpreet @ Budha, he added.
Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh informed that this gang was also liable in the incident of burning of a Toyota Innova car belonging to president of Municipal Committee of Nihal Singh wala in March 2018 by Varinderpal Singh @ Veena Bhuttar with Alam Bhattal @ Kranti. In another incident in November 2017, Aman Jaito, Jaspreet Singh @ Laddi, Rakesh @ Kaku had fired and seriously injured one Gurmeet Singh of Mehma Sarja in Bathinda district due to personal enmity.
He further added that during March 2018, Aman Jaito, Ajay Faridkotia and Jaspreet @ Laddi had snatched a Baleno car on gun point from the area of civil lines Bathinda. In another incident of armed robbery in Novemebr 2017, Aman Jaito, Ajay Faridkotia, Manna Mehal Kalan, Tiger and others forcibly snatched a truck load of rice and sold it. Besides this, in November 2017, Aman Jaito along with Manna Mehal Kalan and others snatched a Swift Dezire car in Sangrur district.
Giving more details he added that in March 2018, Aman Jaito, Ajay Faridotia and Jaspreet @ laddi had seriously injured one Jagroop Singh @ Jupa in the area of Amritsar City. Further investigations were going on by various teams of OCC Unit under Inspector Bikramjit Singh Brar, SI Balwinder Singh and SI Simarjit Singh. The entire operation has been conducted under the supervision of Mr. Gurmeet Singh Chauhan, AIG and Mr. Sandeep Goel, AIG of OCCU Unit who were also present in the press conference.
All the accused persons have been produced before a court of Rajpura and were remanded for six days police custody. Further investigations are going on and some more arrests expected in this operation, he added.
Interacting with media persons he stressed that Punjab Police would pursue and contest the cases of gangsters in the courts to ensure punishments. Besides this, Police would also curb their activities from inside the jails making the state crime free, he said.
