Chandigarh: Out of the total of 125.71 LMT of wheat arrivals in the mandis across the State, up to May 14 government agencies have procured 125.17 LMT of wheat and the private traders have procured 54192 MT, informed an official spokesman of the government of Punjab.
More than 120.17 LMT of the wheat procured by government agencies has been lifted from the mandis recording 96.55 per cent lifting in the ongoing procurement process. Besides, Rs. 18,456 crore has been released as a payment to the farmers through commission agents of the State.
Amongst the State Procuring Agencies (SPAs), PUNGRAIN is leading with a total purchase of 28.98 LMT wheat, followed by MARKFED with 27.44 LMT, PUNSUP 24.15 LMT, PSWC 17.03 LMT and Punjab Agro 12.49 LMT. Similarly, the FCI has purchased 15.05 LMT of the wheat sold in the mandis of the State.
