MALSIAN (JALANDHAR), May 14 (Wishav Warta)- Power Minister Gurpreet Singh Kangar today said that the Akalis had no moral right to seek the votes in the name of Panth as they had always exploited the panthic sentiments of people for personal gains.
Addressing a series of public meetings in support of the party candidate for the Shahkot bye-election Hardev Singh Ladi Sherowalia, here today, Kangar said, the Akalis had only subverted the panthic institutions.
The veteran Congress leader from Malwa warned people against the disinformation campaign by the Akalis against the Congress government led by Capt Amarinder Singh.
“It is strange and surprising that the same people who were responsible for Bargadi and Bebal Kallan incidents were trying to take high moral ground on panthic issues”, he said, while adding, people were wise and well aware and that they will not be carried away by Akalis’ false propaganda.
The Power minister listed the achievements of the Congress government saying, in the very first year a number of promises had already been fulfilled.
“Whether it is the waiving off of farmers’ loans or putting a stop to drug peddling or generating jobs, Capt Amarinder has ensured that every promise is kept”, he said amidst cheers and applause from the public.
Pointing out that since the day Capt Amarinder took over as the Chief Minister, the farmers were not made to wait for even 24 hours for their payments, Kangar said, this is despite the fact that the Akalis left us with empty coffers.
Appealing to people to ensure that they voted in great numbers for the Congress candidate Hardev Ladi, he said, this will be the vote for Capt Amarinder’s promising and progressive agenda that is bound to take Punjab again on the path of glory.
