Chandigarh: Under the able guidance of Hon’ble Justice Ranjan Gogoi, Judge, Supreme Court of India and Executive Chairman, National Legal Services Authority and under the leadership of Hon’ble Justice T.P.S Mann, Judge, Punjab and Haryana High Court and Executive Chairman, Punjab State Legal Services Authority, National Lok Adalat was organized on 22.04.2018 in the entire State of Punjab.
In order to dispose of maximum cases through National Lok Adalat, all the Stakeholders were requested to participate in this Lok Adalat to ensure maximum disposal of cases.
In this National Lok Adalat, various types of cases were taken up for their amicable settlement, as mentioned below:-
Pre-litigation
(i) NI Act cases under Section 138;
(ii) Bank Recovery cases;
(iii) Labour disputes cases;
(iv) Electricity and Water Bills (excluding non-compoundable)
(v) Others (Criminal Compoundable, Matrimonial and other Civil disputes)
Pending in the Courts
(i) Criminal Compoundable Offence
(ii) NI Act cases under Section 138;
(iii) Bank Recovery cases;
(iv) MACT cases;
(v) Labour disputes cases;
(vi) Electricity and Water Bills (excluding non-compoundable)
(vii) Matrimonial disputes;
(viii) Land Acquisition cases;
(ix) Service matters relating to pay and allowances and retiral benefits;
(x) Revenue cases (pending in District Courts and High Courts only);
(xi) Other civil cases (rent, easmentary rights, injunction suits, specific performance suits) etc.
Before this Lok Adalat Hon’ble Justice T.P.S. Mann, has motivated and guided all the Judicial Officers in the State of Punjab to ensure maximum disposal through Lok Adalat.
People were very enthusiastic to get their cases settled amicably in the National Lok Adalat. As reported by Harpreet Kaur Jeewan, Member Secretary, Punjab State Legal Services Authority, in this National Lok Adalat, in the State of Punjab, 211 Benches were constituted in which 70502 cases were taken up and 20989 cases were disposed of and total amount awarded was Rs. 1,82,24,67,817/-. She further stated that the next National Lok Adalat will be held on 14.07.2018 and appealed to general public to contact the front offices of the District and Sub-divisonal Level to file their case in the next National Lok Adalat.
