Chandigarh: A Public Interest Litigation(PIL) has been filed in the Punjab &Haryana High Court against the appointment of 9 new Cabinet ministers of Punjab. Petitioner Jagmohan Bhatti stated in the PIL that their appointment was ‘contrary to law’.
A request was made to the high court to fix the matter on Saturday itself as they were to take oath in the evening.
The high court refused to hear the matter on Saturday and fixed the petition for Monday. Bhatti submitted that the House strength was 117, so the cabinet strength could not be more than 17.
The government did not have money to pay DA and arrears to its employees and cases were pending before courts, on the other, the cabinet was being extended beyond the prescribed limit, the petition stated. It is complete wastage of public money and is a loss to star exchequer as claimed in a petition.
