Jalandhar (Parteek Singh): The heinous rape and murder cases with minors are coming to light in many parts of the country. It has raised questions on the social system of the country. Shiromani Akali Dal Rajya Sabha Member parliament Naresh Gujral has termed these as uncivilised acts, he said in this ancient civilisation some people are behaving like animals which is shocking.
Gujral said the law is strict but the problem is that judicial system is very slow. It takes years to get culprits behind the bars which has increased their moral. We have to make judicial system fast and immediate punishment should be given in such cases. Special courts should be established for the fast trails and case should be decided within six months, Supreme Court should think about this.
“When culprit knows that it will take 10 or more years to get punished the effect of the law fades away, I hope there will be judicial reform soon to stop such incidents” Gujral added.
Naresh Gujral on Tuesday at Jalandhar announced to give 7 fully equipped ambulances to Jalandhar and Kapurthala districts from MPLADS(Member Parliament Local Area Development Scheme) fund. Sultanpur Lodhi, Kapurthala, Shahkot, Kartarpur, Adampur, Nakodar and Phillaur will get one ambulance each. One fully equipped ambulance will cost around Rs 16 lakhs. Gujral told reporter that he has decided to spend 75 per cent amount of his funds on healthcare and 25 per cent of educational institutions.
He said civil hospitals are ill-equipped, so his priority is to provide latest machinery and equipment to the hospitals. We can provide assistance but this is state government’s duty to provide basic facilities. He said he has talked with health minister for assistance. Gujral added that he has already provided Rs 5.80 crore machinery at Jalandhar, Kapurthala and Sultanpur Lodhi hospitals.
