Chandigarh: Leader of Opposition Sukhpal Singh Khaira said the way government mischievously tabled the Justice Narang report on the last day of the budget session, only goes to show that Capt. Amarinder Singh has completely lost the will power to fight corruption in high places. Khaira said it is a matter of record, that Justice Narang had given his report to the Punjab government on 10th August 2017, on which Capt. Amarinder Singh Chief Minister had directed the Chief Secretary to take action within two weeks. Khaira said unfortunately instead of taking action on the report, the Chief Secretary under political pressure pushed the report under the carpet for almost 8 months. Khaira said it was only on his raising the issue in the Vidhan Sabha that the Chief Minister had to table the report on the floor of the house, but as stated earlier mischievously to avoid any discussion.
Khaira said the Justice Narang commission was primarily formed to give a clean chit to the tainted ex Minister Rana Gurjeet, as Rana Gurjeet had been a major source of funding to Capt. Amarinder Singh during the past many years. Khaira said we had immediately brought out the connection of Justice Narang’s son with the family of Rana Gurjeet being their counsel in the High Court in 2017. Khaira said it was an open secret, that Justice Narang commission was constituted to give a clean chit to the former tainted Minister.
Khaira said despite the premeditated and colluding investigations carried out by Jutsice Narang to favour the tainted Minister, he disclosed many vital links between corrupt wheeler-dealers and the tainted Minister Rana Gurjeet.
Khaira said as per the Justice Narang report, the irrigation scam “Thug” contractor Gurinder Singh had contributed Rs. 5 crore to M/s Rajbir Enterprises through Jatin Garg, nephew of Tirloki Nath Singla the CA cum partner of Rana Gurjeet. Khaira said in plain words Rana Gurjeet the then Irrigation Minster had arm twisted scamster contractor Gurinder Singh to pay him Rs. 5 crore as bribe money. LoP said had Justice Narang investigated all the accounts mentioned in his report to their logical conclusion, many more corrupt faces would have been exposed. Khaira said he also has information that Rana Gurjeet in his capacity as Irrigation Minister had ensured release of crores of rupees payments to the firms of contractor Gurinder Singh, after he was nabbed by the Vigilance Bureau for his Rs. 1000 crore scam. This quid pro qua between scamster contractor Gurinder Singh and the tainted Minister Rana Gurjeet is yet to be investigated, despite Capt. Amarinder Singh announcing in the Vidhan Sabha that investigations are underway.
LoP Khaira dared the Chief Minister to order a time bound investigation between tainted Rana Gurjeet Singh and the scamster contractor Gurinder Singh with regards to Rs. 5 crore exchange of bribery. In case the Chief Minister fails to render justice in the mega corruption scandal, it would be presumed that he has totally lost the will power to fight corruption in high places, he said.
Khaira said he also has information that the Punjab government is trying to refund Rs. 29 crore illegal payments made by M/s Rajbir Enterprises for the sand mines connected to Rana Gurjeet, which he said is totally in contradiction to conditions 5, 22 and 27 of the auction notice, as the finding given by Justice Narang terming the said mining bids as unsustainable and illegal. Khaira warned the government against refunding the said Rs. 29 crore, as it would amount to cheating the public exchequer.
LoP Khaira announced that he would be challenging the bogus and premeditated clean chit Narang Commission report in the High Court of Punjab and Haryana shortly, to seek a CBI probe, so that the powerful corrupt and guilty are punished.
