Jalandhar: Rural Development and Panchayat Minister Punjab Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa today said that Captain Government is making all-out efforts to promote rural games in the state as they could play an important role in wiping out the curse of drugs.
Addressing the gathering while presiding over Kabaddi cup here today, the Minister said that Punjab government have been making massive efforts to promote rural sports tournaments across the state. He said that these tournaments are being promoted in consonance with the commitment of Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh to make Punjab a drug free state. Bajwa said that these tournaments were significant as besides promoting sportsmanship amongst the youth it also helps in channelising their unbounded energy in a positive direction.
The Minister said that these tournaments were the need of the hour to transform the destiny of youth. He asserted that more and more tournaments should be organised to ensure that the scourge of drugs is completely wiped out from the state. Bajwa also exhorted the youth to come forward and support the state government for making Punjab a front ranking state in the country.
Showering praise on NRIs for organising this tournament, the Minister said that with the constant help of NRIs Punjab would soon emerge as a healthy and front-runner state in the country. He said that such endeavors would also help in ensuring that NRIs stay connected with the roots of their motherland. Bajwa said that it was the high time that NRIs should emerge as active partners in the progress and prosperity of the state.
