Jalandhar, January 12: Dr. Rajneesh Arora, former Vice Chancellor of Inder Kumar Gujral Punjab Technical University (PTU), has been sent to judicial custody till January 25 by a Jalandhar court on Friday. Arora has been arrested on the charges of corruption during his tenure. He was arrested from his home in Amritsar on Monday and a four days police remand was given for questioning. His police remand finished today and he was presented before the court where he was ordered to sent into judicial custody. He is accused of many financial irregularities while working as Vice Chancellor of PTU during his tenure from 2008 to 2015.
At the same time, Vigilance has intensified the investigation process. Vigilance is collecting all records of employees who were employed on the recommendation of Rajneesh Arora. At present, there is a stir in PTU and they are knocking hands and feet to save their jobs.
Today, the Vigilance bureau kept the arguments seeking extension in police remand of Dr. Arora but the court did not consider any single argument and ordered to send Arora to judicial custody till January 25. Now the defence will approach the upper court for bail of Dr. Arora.
