Jalandhar, January 3: Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Varinder Kumar Sharma today said that the district administration would make all out efforts to further develop the Kania Kalan Gaushala near Shahkot for tackling the menace of stray animals in the district.
An assurance to this regard was given by the Deputy Commissioner to the Chairman of Punjab Gau Sewa Commission Keemti Bhagat during a high level meeting here at District Administrative Complex.
The Deputy Commissioner said that the district administration was fully sensitized towards the problem of stray cattle in the district and all out efforts were being made to further develop the Kania Kalan Gaushala as a Model for the rest of state. He said that already work was on for complete transformation of Gau Shala on modern lines for its efficient management and tackling the problem of stray animals. Sharma said that requisite arrangements have already been put in place for effective functioning and monitoring of this ambitious project, which would be very helpful in solving the problem of stray animals.
Meanwhile, taking part in deliberations Keemti Bhagat, while lauding the Deputy Commissioner, said that the Model Gaushala in Mansa was reflection of good work done by him for solving the problem of stray cattle in that district. He expressed hope that under the dynamic and visionary leadership of Mr. Sharma, the district administration would replicate the same model in Jalandhar also.
The Chairman said that it was a matter of great pride and satisfaction for all of us that the Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh has given a green signal for allotting Rs 9 crore to 18 districts of the state for the management of Gaushalas. He said that even the Chief Minister has also assured fulsome support and cooperation to the Commission for the service of the cattle. Expressing gratitude to the Chief Minister, the Chairman said that this initiative of Captain Amarinder Singh would duly help in solving the problem of stray cattle.
Bhagat also sought the kind intervention of Deputy Commissioner for releasing amount of Rs 1. 5 crore from the Municipal Corporation Jalandhar. He said that this amount could be aptly utilized for tackling this menace and managing 2500 stray cattle in district.
