Captain government harassing employees by not implementing 6th pay commission recommendation : Harpal Singh Cheema
Captain, Manpreet proved to be ‘jumlebaaz’: Principal Budhram
Chandigarh, January 6, 2021 (wishavwarta):-The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has strongly condemned the evasive attitude of the Punjab government towards the employees instead of giving the sixth pay commission. In a joint statement issued from the party headquarters on Wednesday, Leader of Opposition (LoP) Harpal Singh Cheema and MLA Principal Budhram said that the Captain Amarinder Singh-led state government was running away from fulfilling its promises being made to the employees. They said that the Captain government had repeatedly promised to pay the 6th pay commission to the employees of Punjab which was not fulfilled. “It was astonishing that the commission set up during Badal government is still hanging fire and Captain Amarinder Singh is proving to be a ‘jumlebaaz’,” they added.
The AAP leaders said that the Punjab ministers, including the Chief Minister, had mastered the art of reneging on promises. Taking a dig at Punjab Finance Minister Manpreet Singh Badal, the leaders said that there was a common finance minister between the Badals and Captain, who was trying to mislead the employees and impose taxes on them, instead of providing facilities to the people. “Even after three and a half years of the Captain government, who came to power by promising the pay commission during the assembly elections, could not implement it,” they said.
On the occasion of Diwali in 2019, Finance Minister Manpreet Singh Badal had promised to submit a report by December, 2019, during the struggle of the Joint Employees Forum, Punjab and Chandigarh, which was later deferred till the budget session of February, 2020. The leaders said that nearly 10 lakh employees of Punjab were deprived of the revised pay commission, while the pensioners were also not getting the revised pension or dearness allowance. They said that Captain Amarinder Singh had reneged on all the promises made by the Congress before the elections. The leaders further said that today, the youth of Punjab was forced to take it to the streets for employment and the employees of Punjab were struggling for their rights; but on the other hand, all the ministers of the Punjab government were busy filling their coffers. They demanded that the 6th Pay Commission should be implemented for the employees at the earliest.
