Modi government on back foot, time for state govt to ensure MSP to farmers on all crops: AAP
Says after the farmers, Captain government hell bent on ruining traders
Chandigarh, November 19, 2020 (wishavwarta):-The Aam Admi Party (AAP) Punjab came upon heavily on the Captain Amarinder Singh government in the state for acting as a mute witness to the issues and concerns of the farmers, who were currently waging a battle against the three central farm laws.
Reacting to the statement of Captain Amarinder Singh over the decision of the Punjab farmers to continue their stir against the black laws imposed by the Modi government at the centre, senior leader of Aam Aadmi Party LoP Harpal Singh Cheema on Thursday advised the Chief Minister to find a lasting solution to the problem of the farmers instead of posing hindrances in the ongoing farmers struggle.
In a statement issued from party headquarters in Chandigarh on Thursday, Harpal Singh Cheema said that prime minister Narendra Modi as well as Punjab CM Capt. Amarinder Singh were behind the clearing of passage for enforcing the draconian, saying that instead of running away from their responsibility they should come to the rescue of the farmers in this hour of crisis and address their issues and concerns.
Cheema said that the people of the state had voted and supported Capt. Amarinder made him Chief Minister of Punjab by an overwhelming majority, adding that they (The people) of Punjab felt cheated as he reneged on the promises he made to them before assuming power in the state in 2017.
Cornering Capt. Amarinder Singh, Cheema asked the Chief Minister to explain why he shied away from meeting both Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the union Agriculture Minister before and after the enactment of the black laws.
The LoP said that in fact Capt. Amarinder Singh was not well conversant with the ground reality of Punjab and its people due to his royal background and lavish lifestyle, saying he had miserably failed to flag the issues and concerns of the farmers before the central government, saying he was always in touch with the central BJP leadership when it concerned his personal matter. He demanded Capt. Amarinder Singh should immediately to guarantee procurement of crops at MSP, a promise he had given to the people before elections .
Sandhwan said that at present not only the farmers but every section in the state was suffering due to the anti-people decisions of the state and central governments, saying the youth were without jobs while the Dalits and poor were distressed, and so were the business community which was going through a critical period., adding that the Punjab’s industry had incurred an estimated loss of Rs. 30,000 crore so far, which was still continuing. He said the government should immediately come to the rescue of the people.
