*Resumption of freight trains to Pb: Cong woke up after colossal damage has been done to state: AAP*
*๐…Restore freight trains to Punjab immediately: Harpal Cheema to Centre*
*Chandigarh, November 5( Wishavwarta )-The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab has termed the meeting of Punjab state Congress MPs with Union Railway Minister Piyush Goyal as a belated step, and has appealed to the Union Government to immediately restore the services of freight trains to Punjab.
In a statement issued from party headquarters in Chandigarh on Thursday, Leader of Opposition (LoP) Harpal Singh Cheema and state Youth Wing President and MLA Meet Hayer said that it would have been better if not only the Congress Parliamentarians but also Chief Minister, Captain Amarinder Singh had met Union Railway Minister and the Prime Minister well on time with a view to resolving the issues and concerns of the farmers.
Cheema said that farmers had been on roads struggling for over three months, adding that the primary duty of the Captain Amarinder Singh government was to negotiate with the Center and resolve the issues instead of indulging in mere theatrics instead of sleeping over the matter for over three months, which had hit hard the Punjab’s economy, holding both the Amarinder Singh and Modi governments responsible.
State youth wing president Meet Hayer on the occasion said that Punjab had been through a rough patch, adding that the farmers were struggling and business across Punjab had come to a standstill, but the Government in the saddle was unmindful of how farming fraternity was fighting on the roads, while the Union government had been playing vendetta politics to target the people of Punjab, especially the farmers, under a deep-rooted conspiracy.
The AAP leaders appealed to the Modi government at the Center to shun the policy of confrontation with Punjab, which was already facing huge challenges, and order restoration of services of freight trains to Punjab on a priority basis.
The AAP leaders impressed upon Captain Amarinder Singh to discharge his primary duty as the Chief Minister to resolve the issue of farmers, adding that he (Amarinder Singh) should either persuade the Modi government to reverse the central farm black law or guarantee procurement of crops at MSP on its own so that the beleaguered community could heave a sigh of relief, sighing off if he was unable to ensure the MSP on all crops, he should step down as the chief minister.
