PUNJAB URBAN ENVIRONMENT IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM WILL ENSURE COMPLETE FACELIFT OF JALANDHAR- SANTOKH SINGH CHAUDHARY
Jalandhar, October 24 (wishavwarta):- Paving the way for next level of development in the Jalandhar, Member of Parliament (MP) Santokh Singh Chaudhary along with MLAs Pargat Singh, Sushil Kumar Rinku, Rajinder Beri and Avtar Singh Junior Bawa Henry kick started the developmental works worth Rs 663.41 crore in the district under Phase-II of Punjab Urban Environment Improvement Program.
The developmental works worth Rs 639.41 include construction of Surface Water Source Based Water Supply Project having 275-MLD Water Treatment Plant at Jagrawan village worth Rs 525.85 crore, construction of new 50-MLD STP and rehabilitation of existing 100-MLD STP in Pholriwal at the cost of Rs 69.72 crore, LED lights at Pan city worth Rs 43.83 crore and 203 developmental works worth Rs 24 crore in 12 Municipal councils in Jalandhar.
Participating in the Virtual launch of Punjab Urban Environment Improvement Programme Phase-IIโ from Jalandhar, MP along with MLAsย Mayor Jagdish Raj Raja, Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori, MC commissioner Krunesh Sharma, said it was the need of hour for giving fillip to the overall development of the Jalandhar.ย He said that these funds would give a major impetus to the overall development of the urban areas of the district.
He said that the main motive of the schemes was to ensure comprehensive development of the urban areas of the district. He said directions have been issued to the officers to adhere to the timelines for the completion of on-going projects under the scheme.
He told that these projects will ensure complete facelift of the district as main motive of the program was to ensure comprehensive development of the urban areas of the district on one hand and improve the living standard of residents on the other.
He said that in order to reduce the load on the underground water as the water table was depleting very fast, 24X7 surface water supply would help to save the ground water.
He said that LED lighting project would not only help to commuters but would also keep the crime under check and minimize the expenditure on the power.
MP added that the STP at Pholriwal will ensure clean environment and use of the sewage water for the irrigation after proper treating.
Manjeet Kaur, president of Bilga Nagar Panchayat also spoke in the video-conference with Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh and Local Bodies Minister Brahm Mohindra and thanked for issuing Rs 5 crore for several developmental works in the Bilga town.
On the occasion, Senior Deputy Mayor Surinder Kaur, Deputy Mayor Harsimranjeet Singh Bunty, ADC Development Vishesh Sarangal, SP (HQ) Ravi Kumar, DDLG Darbara Singh, Assistant Commissioner Hardeep Singh and others were present.
