Ferozpur: In October 1947, India witnessed the first external aggression by Pakistan Army
when the raiders entered J&K. On 27th October 1947, First Battalion of The Sikh Regiment was airlifted to Srinagar and was instrumental in saving Kashmir valley from the intruders. To honour the valour of the Infantry Soldiers, 27th October is celebrated every year as the ‘Infantry Day’. In subsequent battles that the Nation witnessed, the Infantry Soldier has always played a major role in defending the sovereignty of the Nation. The Infantry or ‘Queen of Battle’ as it is popularly known, has in its legacy, valiant acts of selflessness and courage by the Infantryman who have made innumerable sacrifices to defend the motherland.
On 27th October 2017, Golden Arrow Division celebrated 70th Infantry Day at Ferozepur, in line with the traditions of the Indian Army. The day commenced with Maj Gen Rajesh Kundra, SM, General Officer Commanding Golden Arrow Division, officers and troops paying homage to the martyrs at the Barki War Memorial followed by unit level Barakhana for all ranks in the afternoon.
