Four years after he quit the Congress in support of former MP Jagmeet Singh Brar, Vijay Kumar Saathi on Sunday rejoined the party just days ahead of the Lok Sabha polls in the state. The former Congress leader, who had unsuccessfully contested the 2013 Moga by-election on the party ticket, had quit the primary membership of the party, along with several other Brar supporters, in January 2015. Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh welcomed Vijay Saathi back into the Punjab Congress fold, with the confidence that the party would benefit from his experience. Expressing himself to be relieved at returning to the Congress, Saathi said Brar had been taking unilateral decisions, with even the decision to join TMC and now Akali Dal was taken without consulting his supporters. Saathi promised to work hard for the success of the Congress in these parliamentary polls, and thereafter.
