Patiala, 28 June-Dr Monica Varma, a gynecologist and infertility specialist at Sadbhavna IVF Centre presented her research work at the recently concluded 35th Annual Meet of the prestigious European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE) in Vienna 23-26 June 2019. Her work highlights the increased risk of hypertensive disorders in pregnancy and associated early delivery in patients conceiving by donor eggs by in vitro fertilization technique (test tube baby). However, these complications can be reduced with good screening and counseling before prenancy. This is to be combined with specialized maternal and newborn care. Other means to decrease the risk by different IVF protocols were also mentioned.
Dr Monica had also suggested seven additions to the European Society 2019 guidelines for Oocyte (egg) pick up in IVF, and all of them have been duly accepted and added by the working committee. This is a distinguished achievement for an IVF expert.
