Chandigarh, April 10: Punjab Vigilance Bureau, nabbed an Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) posted at City police station Faridkot red handed while accepting bribe of Rs 5,000.
Disclosing this here an official spokesperson of the Vigilance Bureau said ASI Sukhdev Singh was nabbed red handed on the complaint of Gurdev Singh of Gobind Nagar, Faridkot city. The complainant has approached the VB and alleged that the accused ASI was demanding Rs 10,000 to help his son in a police case and the deal was struck at Rs. 7,000/-. He further said that he had already paid Rs. 2,000 as a first instalment to the accused ASI.
After verifying his information, the vigilance team laid a trap and the accused ASI was arrested on the spot while taking bribe of Rs. 5,000 of second instalment from the complainant in the presence of two official witnesses.
He informed that a case under Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against the accused at VB police station Bathinda and further investigation was under progress.
