Chandigarh: With an objective of multifaceted development and strengthening of each cadre of society, Punjab Govt. is providing seeds, Agriculture equipments and pesticides on subsidised rates to the farmers to financially strengthen the farmers. In this tune, Subsidy amounting to Rs. 30 Lacs provided to farmers for 3000 quintal wheat seeds during the year 2018-19. Whereas this subsidy was Rs. 16 lacs during last year.
Agriculture Development Officer Gurdyal Kumar Department said that subsidy amounting to Rs. 1000 per quintal has been provided to the farmers on “First Come First Serve Basis”. He informed that the market value of these 1 quintal seeds is Rs. 3000, whereas the agriculture department provides these seeds at the rate of Rs. 2000 per quintal, hence provides subsidy of Rs. 1000 per quintal.
Agriculture Development Officer said that only approved seeds promising to give maximum produce are being provided to the farmers on subsidy. With an objective of uplifting the financial status of farmers, subsidised seeds are being provided to the farmers having land less than 5 acres and subsidy amount is directly transferred to the bank accounts of the farmers. He said that to obtain subsidy, a prescribed Performa was uploaded on the website of department and was also published in the daily news papers. He said that filled application form after attestation of village Sarpanch, Nambardar or from MC and Tag of received seeds along with bills has been submitted with the department. After considering the cases, subsidy amount has been transferred to the bank accounts of eligible farmers. He said that the permits were issued by the department to the farmers before issuing subsidy. Govt. and Semi Govt. agencies like PunSeed, Kribhko & IFCO, Punjab Agriculture University provides approved seeds and issues to the farmers having the permits issued by the department.
