The Supreme Court heard Friday the petition filed by CBI director Alok Kumar Verma challenging the decision of the Centre to divest him of his duties and sending him on leave.
The top court has directed that the probe against CBI chief Alok Verma be completed in 2 weeks. The probe would be conducted under the supervision of a retired judge of the Supreme Court.
Justice AK Patnaik, is requested to accept the assignment and ensure enquiry is completed within the time frame, the apex court said.
The feud between Alok Verma and special CBI director Rakesh Asthana escalated recently leading to registration of an FIR against Asthana and others including deputy superintendent of police Devender Kumar, who is in the CBI custody in an alleged bribery case.
