Jalandhar, September 12: The Counter-Intelligence Wing of Punjab Police on Tuesday arrested three contract killers involved in the Ludhiana’s infamous Rinkle murder case and recovered two sophisticated illegal pistols along with live cartridges and two cars used in the crime.
The accused gangsters belong to Doaba’s Sheru group including Gurmeet Singh alias Budhu Lohara (36) Manmeet Singh alias Mani Falora (26) of Lohara in Jalandhar and Bhupinder Singh alias Binda Jandaur (34) of Jandor in Hoshiarpur.
Addressing a press conference, Counter-Intelligence Wing’s Assistant Inspector General HPS Khakh said that on the directions of the Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh to end the culture of violence in the state, the Counter Intelligence Wing has been making strenuous efforts to nab the gangsters.
Khakh revealed that on a tip-off that head of Sheru’ gang led by Satnam Singh alias Sukhi Dhirowal along with Bhupinder, Gurmeet, Manmeet, Monu Kaul and Gurpreet Singh alias Gopi Lamber involved in contract killings and robberies, were conspiring to target an agency for loot purpose and moving towards Bhogpur town in a white Lancer car (PB08-BC-0414) from Tanda town of Hoshiarpur.
AIG told that the information was timely shared with SSP Jalandhar Rural, Mr Navjot Singh Mahal and a joint team of counter-intelligence wing and SHO Bhogpur formed to nab the gangsters and registered an FIR 148 dated 11/09/18 under sections 399 (Making preparation to commit dacoity), 402 (Assembling for purpose of committing dacoity) and 25, 54, 59 Arm Act at Bhogpur police station against them after arresting three of them (mentioned above).
He said that three of the above mentioned gagsters are arrested while other accused managed to flee away from the spot and police teams are behind them to arrest. Two illegal Pistols viz. 9mm and 32 bore along with 11 live cartridges and one lancer car are recovered from the spot, and one polo car, which was used in Ludhiana murder, is recovered after the statement of Budhu, he added.
Disclosing preliminary interrogation, AIG Mr Khakh informed that Jatinder Pal Singh Sunny, a Municipal Councillor’s son who surrendered before police two days after the death of the victim, hired these gangsters.
He told two days ago, Ludhiana police had also arrested two more persons involved in this murder but the main culprits were on run and arrested today.
Divulging the details of the Rinkle murder case, Mr Khakh told that the murder was committed to settle his personal rivalry. He said that accuse, Sunny who was in good terms with gang head Sukhi Dherowalia had struck a deal with him on the hefty amount to eliminate Rinkle Khera, he added.
“Following the deal, Sukhi and his accomplices Bhupinder, Gurmeet, Manmeet, Monu Kaul and Gurpreet Singh, Vishal, Deepu reached Ludhiana in Cherry coloured polo car (PB07-L-3377) and met Sunny who booked two rooms in a hotel for them. Sunny and Budhu associates stayed overnight in the hotel. On the next morning, they took breakfast and Sunny left the hotel in polo car and came back with rods and other sharp-edged weapons.
Around 10 am, all left the hotel to attack Rinkle and two associates of Sunny riding on a bike, joined them in the way and barged in Rinkle’s house. Sunny hit hard on Rinkle head with an Iron rod following which he fell unconscious and did not stop and continually hit his head”.
Khakh further stated after the crime, they fled away from the spot and met Sukhi Dherowalia in SBS Nagar district (Nawanshahr) by crossing Phillaur. Sukhi was in Nawanshahr for hearing in the case and they had lunch there and returned Jalandhar. A day after, Sukhi called Gurmeet regarding the death of Rinkle and all went underground.
AIG said that one of arrested gangsters Manmeet Singh had trimmed his hairs to hide his identity after the murder and were continuously changing their hideouts.
He said that further investigations into the case were going on.
