Chandigarh: The Punjab Government has increased income limit for Other Backward Classes/Backward Classes from Rs.6 lakh to Rs.8 lakh per annum to avail benefit of reservation.
Divulging further, an official spokesperson said that notification has already been issued in this regard. He said that now onwards, persons having gross annual income less than Rs.8 lakh, could avail the benefits of the reservation under the other backward classes and backward classes, irrespective of the earlier slab of Rs.6 lakh. He further said that income limit have been amended to keep creamy layer (socially advanced) people out of the purview of the reservation for other backward classes/backward classes.
He said that the sons/daughters of those persons, whose annual income is Rs.8 lacs or more since last three years, has come in the creamy layer of the other backward classes/backward castes categories thus are not entitled to take benefits for the reservation.
