Lucknow, 15 September(Wishav Warta): Former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi was born on 19 November 1917 at Allahabad. So the celebrations have begun to celebrate the 100th birth anniversary of Indira Gandhi. Uttar Pradesh Congress has launched a two- month programme regarding 100th birth anniversary of former PM. There will senior party leaders to conduct seminars, debate and discussion the over contribution of Indira Gandhi, Jawahar Lal Nehru and Rajiv Gandhi. R P Tripathi, Uttar Pradesh Congress unit vice-president told to the media, “It has been 33 years since Indira Gandhi passed away. An entire generation has grown up with no awareness of her contributions and sacrifices for the country. We have lined up events that will not be political but an intellectual engagement with the people.”
Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee (UPCC) President Raj Babbar, Professor Mridula Mukherjee, Professor Aditya Mukherjee of JNU senior party leader and Mani Shankar Aiyar were also present on the occasion. UPCC president said, “There was a fight between Patriots and nationalists and attempts were being made to belittle sacrifices of those who laid down their lives for the country.”
The two-month long programme in UP aims to intensify the campaign ‘know your legacy’ and Hashtag ‘this day that year’. Ten such events will be held across UP and conclude on November 17.
