The Governor, Punjab and Administrator, UT Chandigarh Sh. V.P Singh Badnore presided over a review meeting through video conferencing with all the Senior Officials of Chandigarh, Panchkula and Mohali and reviewed the situation during the curfew period.
He expressed his happiness and congratulated Adviser, Sh. Manoj Parida, IAS and his team for having ensured that there has been no further increase in the Corona Positive cases in Chandigarh. Heads of all the three medical institutions including Director-PGI, Director, GMCH-32 and DHS, Chandigarh also attended the meeting. Director, PGIMER thanked Chandigarh Administration for providing complete cooperation in the movement of medical and paramedical staff, ration supplies to hospitals and necessary security arrangements in their campus. All the three Heads assured the Adminsitrator that there is no shortage of beds, medicines, protective gears etc. for treating the patients.
The Governor expressed satisfaction about streamlining the Distribution of Milk and Newspapers in the city. Further, he directed Commissioner, MCC to ensure that all areas get adequate stock of essential items on time.
With regard to Essential items including Groceries, Chemists, supply of Fruit & Vegetables etc, it has been finalized to provide the same to the residents at their doorsteps through Government and Private Carriers. No individual will be allowed to come to shops for purchase of essential items. The shops will be used as distribution and storage point for carriers to pick up in carts or autos. The first list of the shops alongwith contact details will be uploaded shortly on the website of the Chandigarh Adminsitration.
Further, it was decided that and no retail sale of fruits and vegetables will be allowed in Mandi (Sector 26) and the Wholesale Market will only function maintain the Supplies Chain.
It is clarified that NO individual is allowed to visit any shop for direct purchase of essential items. The residents can only place order telephonically for delivery of essential items at their doorstep. In case anyone is found violating the provision, then strict legal action would be taken against both the individual and the shop owner as per law.
It has also been decided that 4 Mobile ATMs Vans will be made functional in few days, which will visit different parts of the city. The city residents would be allowed to avail the facility on their doorsteps in fixed hours.
It has also been decided to distribute and sell 10 days and 21 days packets of ration in the periphery by vendors through the available government vehicles. The NGOs/RWAs and other charitable institutions who want to distribute free items can deposit the same with Deputy Commissioner, who in turn will arrange its distribution through government agencies. No private person will be allowed to physically distribute any item among the public.
The Video Conference was attended by Manoj Parida, Adviser, Arun Gupta, Home Secretary, A K Sinha, Finance Secretary, Sanjay Beniwal, DGP, Municipal Corporation Commissioner, all three Deputy Commissioners and SSPs and other senior officers of the tricity.
