Jalandhar, July 3 (wishavwarta)- As part of ‘Mission Fateh’ program of the state government to sensitizing the people to cleaning the water storage tanks, coolers and waste containers daily, the health department on Friday observed dry day and carried out drive against vector-borne diseases in government buildings and various localities.
The teams of the anti-larva cell of the health department led by Epidemiologist Dr Satish Kumar detected dengue larva at nine places
The members of the anti-larva cell including Mr Sarbjeet, Mr Amit Kumar, Mr Jaswinder Singh, Mr Sher Singh, Mr Sanjiv Kumar, Mr Pawan Kumar, Mr Gurpal Singh and Mr Harwinder Singh conducted inspection in Gandhi Vanita Ashram, Sports College, Kabir Nagar and Master Mehnga Singh Colony.
During the checking, the teams visited 138 houses and checked 86 air coolers and 399 waste containers. Six cases were found in Master Mehnga Singh Colony and three cases in Kabir Nagar.
Dr Satish Kumar said the team apprised the people that these places could act as a breeding ground for the mosquitoes to spread diseases like dengue, malaria and others so these must be cleaned regularly.
He added that the drive was aimed at identifying vulnerable places for producing the larva of mosquitoes.
