DC fixes rates of retail sale of vegetables
S. A. S. Nagar, March 27( Wishavwarta)-The uninterrupted supply of milk to the people of the District is being ensured by the District Administration in the wake of curfew. Disclosing this here today, the DC Mr. Girish Dayalan said that on Friday, the verka supplied 80576 tonnes of milk in the district. Besides this, the milkmen also supplied milk door to door.
It is worth mentioning that usually in the district, the average consumption of Verka milk is 65,000 litres but during curfew it supplied 15000 litres of extra milk thus making good the paucity of milk from other sources.
Similarly, the city of Mohali saw 39 tonnes of vegetables being purchased by the people owing to the arrangements of the District Mandi Officer. These were supplied at people’s doorsteps.
The DC considering the reports of vegetables being sold at exorbitant rates by the vegetable vendors, fixed the rates of retail sale of the vegetables which are in high demand.
In accordance with the directions of the DC, the potatoes won’t be sold at a price more than Rs. 50 per kg, Onions Rs. 45 per kg, Tomato Rs. 60 per kg, cauliflower Rs. 40 per kg, Peas Rs. 120 per kg, Carrot Rs. 50 per kg, Green Chilies Rs. 20 per 100 gm, Ginger Rs. 25 per 100 gm, Lemon Rs. 120 per kg, Spinach Rs. 10-15 per packet, Bottle Gourd (Ghiya) Rs. 60 per kg, Summer Squash (Chappankaddu) Rs. 60 per kg, Garlic Rs. 170 per kg, Coriander (Dhaniya) Rs. 10-15 per packet, Fenugreek (Methi) Rs. 10-15 per packet.
