625 CASES REDRESSED THROUGH WOMEN POLICE STATION

With a motive to redress domestic violence cases, Women Police Station established by Punjab Government are being proving bliss for distressed couples of the district. In this context 625 cases stands redressed through Women Police Station.
Divulging the details, Renu Sahu, Station House Officer of Women Police Station said that under the guidance of SSP Mr. Kuldeep Singh Chahal, women police station deals with the domestic violence & women cases pertaining to sub division Mohali, Kharar & Dera Bassi. The cases are redressed with the mutual consents and understanding of both the parties. Such Women Police Stations are proving beneficial for connecting the ties among the families.
Sub Inspector Sahu further said that out of total 924 cases including 200 cases of last year, registered till September 2019. Out of the which, 78 divorces were filed, 141 cases were settled, 372 cases were disposed at office level and 34 cases were brought to the court. She said that cases relating to women harassment and domestic violence are perceived through various aspects and are redressed with complete transparency. Counselling of both the parties is undertaken, which resolves maximum conflicts among them and helps to start families a new beginning. The decisions thus declared through women police stations, saves time, effort and money.
Ms. Sahu said that through women police stations, the family disputes lingering from months were redressed and disposed within weeks. She said that cases which are not resolved through mutual consents and counselling are registered to proceed further.
