Chandigarh: The Punjab unit of Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) has severely criticized Sukhpal Singh Khaira for his outpourings against Justice (Retired) Zora Singh Commission, which was constituted by then SAD-BJP government to probe the desecration of Guru Granth Sahib at Bargari and firing incident at Behbal Kalan – Kotkapura, in which two persons were killed.
In a statement issued here on Friday, Kotkapura MLA and spokesman of the party (Punjab unit), Kultar Singh Sandhwan, accused maverick Khaira of playing to the tunes of Punjab chief minister Captain Amarinder Singh, to protect the Badal father-son duo, accused in the case, a fact which captain cannot walk away without making a plausible answer.
Sandhwan further said if then chief minister of Punjab Parkash Singh Badal, home minister Sukhbir Singh Badal and the incumbent CM Captain Amarinder Singh had guts to call a spade a spade, they should make the report public submitted by the commission to them for further necessary action, he added.
He said they should falsify the findings of Justice Zora Singh that they had misused government machinery and police dispensation to delay and derail the inquiry and protect the accused from the wheels of justice, he said. He said that during the investigation into the incidents, by the commission, police did not cooperate in the probe and produced wrong information, which was debatable, he said.
The spokesman further said that Khaira was trying to undermine the AAP by playing in the hands of the Badals and Captain. He advised him to refrain from becoming a partner in their misdeeds. He accused Captain Amarinder Singh to been a mute witness to their misdeeds even after the lapse of 667 of assuming power in the state. He said both the Badals and Captain were ventilating their ire through Khaira.
Sandhwan said the allegations of third degree torture leveled by granthi Singh and residents of Burj jawahar Singh Wala, substantiate that what Justice Zora Singh had been stated in his report, saying the police officers had deported under oath before the commission that the six suspects were not investigated. How can Justice Zora Singh say they were investigated, he questioned.
Sandhwan said the charges of third degree torture leveled against the police calls for making the Zora Singh report public to bring out the facts to public domain and punish those found guilty of crime.
He demanded from Capt. Amarinder Singh that action must be taken against the police officers who illegally kept the granthi singh and his family into police custody. He said that the previous govt. tried to frame innocent people in the desecration case that indicates a bigger conspiracy. He said that Justice Zora Singh report must be made public to know who were the politicians and police officer behind curtain operating the show.
Sandhwan alleged that the report submitted by Justice Zora Singh commission was yet to make certain stratling revelations, which includes the allegations of torture leveled against the police by the garnthi Singh and Gora Singh under oath. The Zora Singh report also raises a valid question as to who gave the names of 6 accused in the case.
