Chandigarh: Out of the total of 125.04 LMT of wheat arrival in the grain markets across the State, up to May 11 Government Agencies have procured 124.47 LMT while private traders have procured 53856 MT, informed an official spokesman of the government of Punjab.
He added that more than 116.23 LMT of the wheat procured by government agencies has been lifted from the mandis and Rs.18,274 crore has been released to the farmers through the commission agents of the state.
The spokesman further informed that amongst the State procuring agencies, PUNGRAIN is leading with a total procurement of 28.84 LMT, followed by MARKFED with 27.30 LMT. PUNSUP has purchased 24.04 LMT while PSWC has purchased 16.91 LMT and Punjab Agro has procured 12.41 LMT. Similarly, FCI has purchased 14.95 LMT of the wheat sold in the mandis of the State.
