Jalandhar(Wishav Warta): The State Election Commission has appointed Returning Officers (ROs) and Assistant Returning officers (AROs) for smooth conduct of ensuing polls of Municipal Corporation Jalandhar (MCJ) and four Municipal Committees scheduled to take place on December 17.
Divulging the details, the Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Varinder Kumar Sharma as per the orders of State Election Commission Sub Divisional Magistrate II and District Mandi Officer would be RO and ARO respectively of ward number 1-6 and 57-62. Likewise, he said that District Revenue Officer and Block Development and Panchayat Officer Jalandhar West would be RO and ARO respectively of ward number 53-55, 63-66, 69-71 and 79-80. Mr. Sharma said that Executive Magistrate Jalandhar and Assistant Excise and Taxation Commissioner Jalandhar II would be RO and ARO of ward number 7-14, 16-17 and 56.
The Deputy Commissioner further said that Sub Divisional Magistrate Jalandhar I and Naib Tehsildar Adampur would be RO and ARO of ward numbers 15,18-20, 48-52 and 67-68. He said that Tehsildar Jalandhar I and Naib Tehsildar Jalandhar I would be RO and ARO of ward number 21-31. Sharma further said that Secretary RTA Jalandhar and SDE Public Health JDA Jalandhar would RO and ARO of ward number 32-42 adding that Tehsildar Jalandhar II and Naib Tehsildar Jalandhar II would be RO and ARO of ward number 43-47 and 72-78.
Likewise, the Deputy Commissioner said that Assistant Commissioner (Grievances) and Naib Tehsildar Bhogpur would be RO and ARO of all the 13 wards of Bhogpur, Sub Divisional Magistrate Phillaur and Naib Tehsildar Goraya would be RO and ARO of all the 13 wards of Goraya, Tehsildar Phillaur and Naib Tehsildar Nurmahal would be RO and ARO of all the 13 wards of Bilga and Sub Divisional Magistrate Shahkot and Tehsildar Shahkot would be RO and ARO of all the 13 wards of Shahkot.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner asked all the officers to perform their duty diligently to ensure free, fair and transparent elections for civic bodies. He said that any sort of callousness in performing duty was not at all tolerable. Mr. Sharma further said that the voting would take place through the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and the result of the poll would be declared on the same day i.e December 17.
