Adampur(Jalandhar)(Wishav Warta): The President of India Mr. Ram Nath Kovind today awarded President’s standards to two units of Indian Air Force viz. 223 Squadron and 117 Helicopter unit for history of excellence here at Air Force Station.
In his address the President of India recalled the glorious legacy of the Indian Armed forces in protecting the unity, integrity and sovereignty of the country. He said that every citizen has a sound sleep back at their homes because they were aware that valiant soldiers were safeguarding the borders of the country. Kovind also said that he was fortunate to be in Punjab, which was the land of Sainiks (Soldiers) and saints.
Earlier, the President took salute an impressive march past from the officers of the Indian Air Force. He awarded the standards to the officers of both the units and complimented them. Aerial show by the Sarang and Dhruv Helicopters and Surya Kiran Aerobatic Team of the Indian Air Force regaled the audience.
The President also released information brochure on both the units. Prominent amongst other present on the occasion included Governor Punjab VP Singh Badnore, Lady Governor Alka Singh, Irrigation and Power Minister Rana Gurjit Singh, Lok Sabha MP Chaudhary Santokh Singh, former MLA Rajbhans Kaur Rana, Chief of the Air Staff Air
Chief Marshal Birender Singh Dhanoa, Commissioner Jalandhar Division Raj Kamal Chaudhary, Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma, Inspector General of Police Arpit Shukla, Deputy Inspector General of Police Jaskaran Singh, Senior Superintendent of Police Gurpreet Singh Bhullar, Superintendent of Police Rajinder Singh Cheema and Additional Deputy Commissioner Jasbir Singh. On the occasion, several serving officers of the Indian Air Force along
with veterans were also present.
