The Punjab Government is organizing the 64th All India Cooperative week celebrations to promote the strength of cooperative in today’s world of digitalisation under the theme of “Good governance and professionalism through cooperatives” from November 14, 2017. Rana KP Singh, Speaker, Punjab Vidhan Sabha would inaugurate the function as chief guest at Verka Plant, Mohali.
Disclosing this here today, an official spokesman said that this event is being organized under the theme “Good governance and professionalism through cooperatives”, in which Rana KP Singh would also distribute Price Difference money to the milk producers. He informed that about 60000 milk producers would receive Rs 3.70 crore as price difference. Apart from this, a large number of self-help groups would demonstrate their products in an exhibition.
It is pertinent to mention here that Verka brand, which has a distinct identity in the co-operative movement, has a turnover of about Rs.2,967 crore last year and set a target of Rs.3780 crore in the current year. At present, 7052 milk producer cooperative societies are working in the state, having 385,000 milk producers as members.
He also informed that Verka has large share in the supply of packaged milk in the cities of Punjab. At present, about 17 lakh kg of milk is being collected daily, out of which about 10 lakh liters of milk is being supplied to the different cities daily.
