DIRECTS ALL NINE COOPERATIVE SUGAR MILLS TO PROVIDE SUGAR @ Rs. 2500 PER QUNITAL TO CANE GROWERS
CHANDIGARH, MARCH 31( Wishavwarta)- Extending major relief to sugarcane growers in the state, the Cooperation Minister Sukhjinder Singh has announced that the sugarcane growers of state would get incentive sugar @ Rs 2500 per quintal from the cooperative sugar mills of state amid COVID-19 restrictions.
Disclosing this here today the Chairman Sugarfed Amrik Singh Aliwal said that all the nine Cooperative Sugar Mills of the State has been directed to immediately provide incentive sugar at Rs 2500 per qtl to sugarcane growers.
Aliwal said that said that the quantity of sugar to be supplied to farmers will be 20 kg for 100 Qtls of sugarcane supplied. He said that the Minister further directed to adjust the payment of sugar in pending dues of sugarcane of farmers.
The chairman also pointed out that this step had been taken to provide relief to farmers in this difficult time. As per directions of the Minister to provide incentive sugar to sugarcane growers who have supplied sugarcane to cooperative sugar mills, instructions have been issued by Sugarfed with concurrence of Board of Directors.
Meanwhile, the MD Sugarfed Puneet Goyal stated that this initiative would not only help farmers to procure incentive sugar for their domestic use but also provide it for farm workers as well as migrant labour being deployed for coming harvesting season.
