PATIALA, MARCH 26( Wishavwarta)- While underscoring complete lockdown was necessary to control further spread of covid19, the Patiala Member Parliament Preneet Kaur on Thursday outlined administration’s top most priority was to ensure door to door supply of essential items beside providing food to homeless and other poor sections of society.
The Member Parliament Preneet Kaur also announced Rs. 50 Lakh for the CM Covid Relief Fund for assisting state government’s efforts to mitigate the suffering of those adversely affected by the crisis. In addition, she also disclosed donating Rs. 20 Lakhs and her one month salary towards the Patiala Red Cross Covid Fund instituted by the Deputy Commissioner Patiala.
We are working overtime to make sure no shortages are reported by people of milk, vegetables, and medicines, Preneet Kaur said after holding a meeting with top district officials here this morning.
We have already circulated the list of vendors area-wise who could be contacted over phone only and would deliver the goods at homes, she added assuring people there would be no shortage of milk or vegetables at all.
The other priority for me is to ensure no homeless poor or daily earner sleeps without food in my district for which we have already started delivering food packets to them through Governement and NGO volunteers.
For medicines, tie-ups are being made with the respective Chemist Associations so that orders can be taken on phone and home delivery is accordingly undertaken, she disclosed.
Directing the Deputy Commissioner to ensure no-one faces any difficulty in moving out during lockdown for an emergency, Preneet Kaur asked the authorities to keep informing the public about procedure to be followed during such a situation.
Thanking public for their support during the lockdown, Preneet Kaur also urged them to be vigilant against any attempt to spread panic or fear by circulating fake news on social media.
The number of curfew violations has come down drastically, she noted with satisfaction saying this is a collective fight and we would all fight it together and win.
