Chandigarh: Union food processing industries minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal today thanked Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis for responding to her request and announcing that the Maharastra government would not push for amending the Sri Hazoor Sahib Management Act, 1956 keeping in view the sentiments of the Sikh community on this issue.
In a statement here, Harsimrat Badal said she had taken up the issue of the notice of motion taken out by the Maharastra government which proposed to amend Section 11 of the Management Act and give the power to appoint the Chairman of Sr Hazoor Sahib Management Board to the government. Mrs Badal said she had informed the chief minister two days back that the Sikh community was not in favour of this proposal and wanted that the government allow the community to run the affairs of the Board.

She said the Maharashtra chief minister had also informed her that the notice of motion issued with regard to the amendment would be allowed to lapse. “Mr Fadnavis also assured me that the BJP always stood with and respected the sentiments of the Sikh community”.
Thanking the chief minister for clearing the air, Badal said the Takth Sachkhand Hazoor Sahib would continue to be managed by its 17 member Board as per the old arrangement and the community would decided on appointment of its Chairman.
