Chandigarh: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and party spokesman Meet Hayer and Rupinder Kaur on Wednesday came heavily on the de-addiction centres in the state for making drug addicts a slave to ‘buprenorphine’ a de-addiction drug tablet.
In a statement issued from the party headquarters in Chandigarh here, they have slammed the Captain Amarinder Singh Government for sleeping over the matter.
They further said there could be nothing more slanderous than the government’s involvement in shoving the youth of the state into one drug addiction to another which, they described as unfortunate on the part of the government in the saddle.
If figures available with the state food and drugs department are to be believed, the sale of ‘‘buprenorphine’ in the state had crossed the whopping figure of six crore. The tablet has rendered the hapless youth its virtual slave and was here to stay, they cautioned the government.
AAP leaders MLAs have urged Captain Amarinder Singh that he should come forward and redeem his pledge to provide employment to the youth in every household, sooner than later, as the only way forward to get rid of the menace of drugs was employment and not drug tablet.
