Chandigarh: On the directives of Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh, the Finance Department on Wednesday released Rs. 322 Crores towards Post Matric Scholarships and Power Subsidy for farmers.
According to a spokesperson of the Chief Minister’s Office, a sum of Rs. 172 crores had been released to Department of Social Justice, Empowerment and Minorites for payments under the Post Matric Scholarships scheme for 2016-17, with another Rs. 150 Crores given to PSPCL for agriculture power subsidy to farmers.
The Chief Minister has reiterated his earlier direction to all the departments to manage their finances far more prudently, thereby ensuring financial discipline, besides cutting down any wasteful expenditure in order to further consolidate the state’s overall fiscal position, the spokesperson added.
