Chandigarh: The Special Investigation Team (SIT), probing the Guru Granth Sahib sacrilege and behbal kalan police firing incident, questioned former Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal’s statement at his local residence (MLA Flats) today.
There was high drama at the residence of former chief minister Parkash Singh Badal here as the SIT arrived to question him as part of the probe in a 2015 sacrilege issue.
IG Kunwar Vijay Pratap arrived for questioning, while the SIT head, ADGP Prabodh Kumar, was absent when the team reached Badal’s residence. Badal had expressed his reservation over being questioned by the said IG, accusing him of being in control of his political masters.
Seeing the ADGP absent, Badal spoke to him over phone. Badal asked Prabodh Kumar to come for questioning himself, he being the SIT chairman. Later, Prabodh Kumar arrived there.
Earlier, the former CM was asked to appear before SIT in Amritsar.
As per sources, former CM was questioned in the cases as a witness. The Inquiry headed by Justice Ranjit Singh in his report had mentioned that the former CM did not ask the police to not to use force on sitting protesters in the 2015 firing incident.
