Srinagar: A twenty year old man was killed in South Kashmir’s Anantnag town on Saturday when clashes broke out between police and civilians soon after Eid prayers.
Around ten people were injured in clashes that broke out in Anantnag’s Janglat Mandi area. One of the injured, Sheeraz Ahmad of Brakpora, died of his injuries later, doctors said.
The police used tear gas shells and pellet guns to disperse the crowd.
In Pulwama, nearly 40km from Anantnag, a crowd protested on Saturday against the killing of a teenager in alleged Army firing a day before, police said.
This was the first civilian death in Army firing since the security forces froze operations in Kashmir for Ramzan.
