Jalandhar: In a bid to ensure better stress management amongst cop for enhancing their efficiency to further meet any sort of challenge during the duty, the Jalandhar Rural Police today organized a Stress Management Workshop for the Police officers of Jalandhar zone.
Inaugurating the workshop here at local Red Cross Bhawan, the Inspector General of Police Jalandhar zone Arpit Shukla said that it was the need of the hour to organize such workshops for de-stressing the cops, who face numerous challenges every day while performing their duty. He said that rising stress level amongst the officers/ officials was a cause of concern for everyone. Shukla said that high stress level amongst the cops must be checked at every cost for which this workshop was being held.
The Inspector General of Police said that regular medical studies has revealed that cops of Punjab Police were falling prey to fatal diseases like hepatitis C, hyper tension, diabetes and others due to high stress level. So, he said that need of the hour was to maintain mental equilibrium by living a quality life by making certain changes in lifestyle. Mr. Shukla said that this workshop was a step forward towards achieving the ultimate goal of ensuring healthy and quality life of every cop.
Hailing the initiative taken by Jalandhar Rural Police under leadership of Senior Superintendent of Police Gurpreet Singh Bhullar, the Inspector General of Police said that this out of box idea would be replicated in all the districts in Jalandhar zone. He said that such workshops would be held regularly in other districts of the zone too, so that cops could be acquainted about the methods of stress management. Shukla expressed hope that this initiative would certainly help in enhancing the efficiency of every cop.
Giving certain tips of healthy living to the cops, the Inspector General of the Police said that the officers/ officials must devote around two hours in entire day for themselves. He said that one hour must be spared for exercise to give good health and another half an hour for reading a good book daily. Likewise, Shukla also batted for healthy meal, drug free life, health lifestyle changes and others.
Earlier, welcoming all the dignitaries in the workshop, the Deputy Inspector General of Police Jaskaran Singh batted for striking out a fine balance between family and professional life. He said that since ages Police force has played a key role in society adding that in today’s era the role of force has enhanced a lot besides becoming diverse and demanding. Jaskaran Singh said that in such a scenario the role of such workshops become all the more important.
In his address, Senior Superintendent of Police Jalandhar Rural Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said that this initiative was aimed at ensuring that Police Officers/ officials live stress free life to perform their duty well. He said that Police force was the basis of a civilized society and it could perform duty well only if it was healthy, both physically and mentally. Bhullar said that Jalandhar Rural Police would continue to make such efforts in future for overall development of serving cops.
