Ludhiana: Punjab Government and Ludhiana Municipal Corporation on Saturday handed over cheques of Rs 10 lakh to the families of the firefighters, who were died in plastic factory Fire mishap in November.
Apart from this, the amount of all monetary benefits of the deceased were also given to the families. Member of Parliament (MP) Ravneet Singh Bittu was present in the function.
On this occasion, MP said that the sacrifice of the firefighters who lost their lives in the mishap cannot be forgotten by Punjab. He said that they had saved several lives by laying down their own lives, MP said adding that the Punjab Government and Congress party will always be present for their families. Punjab Government and Municipal Corporation have contributed Rs. 5 lakh each respectively.
Likewise, the officials and employees of the Ludhiana Municipal Corporation have also pledged to donate one-day salary for the families of the deceased.
He said that Nine employees of Fire Brigade had lost their lives in the mishap out of which bodies of three were not found. He said due to delay in the issuance of death certificates to the families of those three employees, the compensation cheque to their families will be given within one-week. He claimed that the Government is in process of completing formalities of the Government job to one member of deceased families and soon, appointment letters would be handed to them soon.
MLAs Mr.Surinder Dabar, Mr.Sanjay Talwar, Mr.Bharat Bhushan Ashu, Municipal Corporation Commissioner Mr.Jaskiran Singh, Zonal MC Commissioner Mr Satwant Singh, Joint Commissioner Mr Kulpreet Singh and others were also present.
